History of the House
1906 or 1909: The home was built at the corner of California and Chester Avenues (1203 Chester Avenue) by Jose Lopez. History of Kern County, written in 1914 by Wallace Morgan, indicates that the home was built in 1909. The biographical sketches were usually approved by those included in the publication.
1929: Home was turned around to face California Avenue
1938: Margaret Pearl Meacham, the daughter of J.J. Lopez, inherited the home
1953: Otis Coppock purchased the home and
moved it to Calloway Drive and Rosedale Highway
1966: Arlin and Lavern Hill purchased home for $8,000.
2005: Lavern Hill passed away; the home was inherited by her children Arlin Wayne Hill, Glenda Rankin, Harvey Hill, and Diane Sharman.
